Karambit knife is a small sized curved bladed knife that hails from the Philippines. It was basically a slashing and fighting knife and was used for agricultural purposes. 

Karambit knife has a curved blade and is not ideal for precise cutting. It features a safety or tactical ring, and an ergonomic handle. 

How Good is a Karambit Knife for Playing Tricks?

There are just a few knives that are used for playing tricks. Karambit is one of them, and is popularly used for this purpose. 

Generally, karambit is considered a little difficult for performing tricks. But, this is just a myth. In reality, it is quite easier to learn karambit knife tricks. 

Since karambit has a curved blade, it can be rotated pretty well. A safety ring on the knife also makes it easier to play tricks. 

The safety ring allows you to slide your finger into the ring to gain better control on the knife. It also allows you to perform as many tricks as you can. 

Easiest Karambit Knife Tricks

Spinning

Spinning trick is the most played trick with a karambit knife. It includes spinning the knife and not dropping it. You must maintain the balance of the blade while performing it. 

Accuracy is the key along with great control and grip when you are playing a spinning trick. You need to practice this trick a lot to gain accuracy. 

When you start spinning it, first keep your pace slow. Spin it gently to gain control. When you become an expert, start spinning it at a greater pace. 

When you are learning this trick, try to use a trainer knife with a blunt blade. 

Switch Hands

Switch hands trick is a little tougher than spinning trick. This trick involves switching hands while using the knife at a quick speed. 

For performing this trick, you must attain a great control on the knife. To play the trick, hold a karambit knife in your right hand. Make sure that your grip is reversed. 

Start spinning the knife in a natural manner. As the knife falls, it must come at the top of the right hand. 

At the same time, let your index finger of your left hand inserted in the ring. Now, the knife is in your left hand and you have a reverse grip on the knife. 

Grip Tricks

The easiest and most basic karambit knife tricks are grip tricks. There are three grip tricks including forward grip, reverse grip and extended grip. 

If you are a beginner, you can try all these grip tricks quite easily. You can learn and perform these tricks quickly and comfortably. 

Place the hand on the knife’s handle with your palm flat and up. The spine must be facing your body while the ring should be on your left. 

The tip must be facing your body while your smallest finger should be in the ring. Close your hand, and you have a forward grip on the knife. 

Place the hand on the knife’s handle with your palm flat and up. The spine must be facing your body while the ring should be on your right.  

The tip must not be facing your body while your smallest finger should be in the ring. Close your hand, and you have a reverse grip on the knife.

Grip the knife in a reverse position. Now, rotate the knife over the index finger. Meanwhile, keep the tip of the blade upwards. Keep rotating unless it rests against the back of your fingers.
